Ex-Jets troublemaker finds home with Super Bowl threat

A Jets castoff got his free-agency deal — just probably not the one he had in mind this time last year.

Sheldon Richardson, whom the Jets dealt to the Seahawks in a trade near the start of last season, reached a deal with the Vikings on Friday. The pact is for one year, according to ESPN.

The former Jets talent and issue lands with Minnesota, who went to the NFL Championship last season and have now added Kirk Cousins as quarterback.

The Jets sent Richardson packing in the final year of his contract rather than let the troubled defensive tackle leave for nothing in free agency. The Jets got back wide receiver Jermaine Kearse and a second-round draft pick.

The 27-year-old Richardson has 286 tackles and 19 sacks in his career but had become a problematic presence in the Jets locker room with his constant battles with then-teammate Brandon Marshall, along with multiple suspensions.

This would have been Richardson’s year to cash in on a promising career and an abundance of talent, but off-field issues may have contributed to the short contract.
