The 2024 NFL Draft proved to be a historic draft with many teams able to bolster their rosters with exciting young talents, whilst other teams have been left scratching their heads over whether they made the right pick or not.

So, would the teams alter their draft choices if they had the opportunity to do so?

Well, with the 2025 NFL Draft just weeks away, we look back at the 2024 NFL Draft and see whether, if given the chance, teams would reconsider or stick with their draft picks one year later.

1) Chicago Bears

Original Pick - Caleb Williams (QB)

New Pick - Jayden Daniels (QB)

Caleb Williams, unfortunately, did not live up to his pre-draft hype and struggled in a dysfunctional Chicago Bears offense, whilst Jayden Daniels took a four-win Washington Commanders team to the NFC Championship in what was arguably the greatest season a rookie quarterback has ever had. There is still plenty of time for Williams to turn things around, but in this scenario, it is impossible not to select Daniels with the first pick.

2)Washington Commanders

Original Pick: Jayden Daniels (QB)

New Pick: Caleb Williams (QB)

Caleb Williams looks on prior to a game against the <strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2025/01/11/1209757-playoff-preview-the-green-bay-packers-look-to-upset-the-philadelphia-eagles.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2025/01/11/1209757-playoff-preview-the-green-bay-packers-look-to-upset-the-philadelphia-eagles.html'>Green Bay Packers</a></strong>. The Commanders will be ecstatic with their selection of Daniels who has turned the franchise around, but with Daniels now off the board in this scenario, the Commanders take Williams to be the face of their franchise. It would have been a good fit for Williams who has already worked under their offensive coordinatior Kliff Kingsbury during the coach's time as a senior offensive analyst at USC, and with Washington in desperate need of a quarterback to lead their rebuild, the pick makes a lot of sense.

3) New England Patriots

Original Pick: Drake Maye (QB)

New Pick: Drake Maye (QB)

Drake Maye warms up prior to a game against the <strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/11/15/1204334-bye-week-breakdown-week-11panthers-buccaneersgiants-and-cardinals-take-their-bye-weekhows-their-seasons-going.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/11/15/1204334-bye-week-breakdown-week-11panthers-buccaneersgiants-and-cardinals-take-their-bye-weekhows-their-seasons-going.html'>Arizona Cardinals</a></strong>. Despite holding the third overall pick and missing out on the first two quarterbacks, Drake Maye was certainly no consolation prize for the New England Patriots. Having initially been named as the backup quarterback to Jacoby Brissett, Maye was named the starting quarterback in Week 6 and showed great promise, throwing 15 touchdown passes as well as rushing for another two touchdowns, earning himself Pro Bowl honours in his rookie season.

4) Arizona Cardinals

Original Pick: Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR)

New Pick: Malik Nabers (WR)

While Marvin Harrison Jr. had a solid rookie season with 885 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, his numbers were overshadowed by those of Malik Nabers. The former LSU receiver notched up over 1,200 receiving yards with seven touchdowns in a Giants offense which evolved around him, earning himself a Pro Bowl selection all while playing for a team that finished with a 3-14 record.

5) Los Angeles Chargers

Original Pick: Joe Alt (OT)

New Pick: Joe Alt (OT)

Joe Alt was a prospect many believed would be the perfect match for Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, and it just so happened that the tackle fell to the Chargers at pick five. They certainly are not regretting that pick nearly one year on, as Alt further bolstered a Chargers offensive line that already boasted Rashawn Slater at left tackle, which allowed Alt to slot in at right tackle.

6) New York Giants

Original Pick: Malik Nabers (WR)

New Pick: Bo Nix (QB)

Bo Nix in action against the <strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2025/01/10/1209607-baltimore-ravens-playoff-preview-2024-can-lamar-and-henry-run-all-the-way-to-the-super-bowl.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2025/01/10/1209607-baltimore-ravens-playoff-preview-2024-can-lamar-and-henry-run-all-the-way-to-the-super-bowl.html'>Cincinnati Bengals</a></strong>. A franchise quarterback was a big need for the New York Giants heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, but they opted instead to select Nabers with the top quarterback prospects already off the board, or so they thought. Bo Nix fell to the Denver Broncos at pick 12 and has struck a brilliant partnership with head coach Sean Payton, as the Oregon product threw 29 touchdown passes and led his team to the playoffs. One year later, the Giants' quarterback situation has since worsened after they released Daniel Jones mid-season and really could have done with one of the many top quarterback prospects in this draft class, but instead must now address this position in a much weaker class.

7) Tennessee Titans

Original Pick: JC Latham (OT)

New Pick: Jared Verse (EDGE)

<strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/12/11/1207378-nfl-preview-san-francisco-49ers-face-the-los-angeles-rams-with-their-playoff-hopes-on-the-line.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/12/11/1207378-nfl-preview-san-francisco-49ers-face-the-los-angeles-rams-with-their-playoff-hopes-on-the-line.html'>Jared Verse</a></strong> ahead of the Divisional round matchup against the <strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2025/01/16/1210293-nfc-divisional-round-2024-preview-philadelphia-eagles-vs-los-angeles-rams.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2025/01/16/1210293-nfc-divisional-round-2024-preview-philadelphia-eagles-vs-los-angeles-rams.html'>Philadelphia Eagles</a></strong>. Photo by Sarah Stier/Getty Images

The Tennessee Titans had plenty of holes to fill on their roster ahead of the draft, therefore the opportunity to select Jared Verse - who has established himself as one of the best defensive players in the NFL - would be too good for them to pass up. Verse won the coveted Defensive Rookie of the Year award after recording six and a half sacks and helping the Los Angeles Rams to the playoffs in his rookie season, consequently earning Pro Bowl recognition.

8) Atlanta Falcons

Original Pick: Michael Penix Jr. (QB)

New Pick: Michael Penix Jr. (QB)

<strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/05/16/1182592-the-top-five-biggest-surprises-in-the-2024-nfl-draft.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/05/16/1182592-the-top-five-biggest-surprises-in-the-2024-nfl-draft.html'>Michael Penix Jr.</a></strong> in action against the Carolina Panthers. Photo by Todd Kirkland/Getty Images

The Atlanta Falcons selecting Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth overall pick was arguably the most surprising selection in the entire 2024 NFL Draft, but on reflection, it now appears to be a very wise pick. The Falcons had just signed Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million contract prior to drafting Penix, however Cousins lost the starting job to Penix in Week 16 and the former Washington Husky impressed. It now looks as though the Falcons will be moving forward with Penix, and it looks as though it was a very worthwhile pickup.

9) Chicago Bears

Original Pick: Rome Odunze (WR)

New Pick: Taliese Fuaga (OT)

The selection of Rome Odunze made sense for the Chicago Bears as they gave Williams another offensive weapon to utilise. Although, with Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, D'Andre Swift and Cole Kmet already on the roster, another wide receiver was not necessarily a position of need. On top of that, Williams being sacked 68 times (third-most in NFL history) emphasises how little protection the rookie quarterback received, which ultimately led to their first-overall pick having a disastrous rookie season. If the Bears were to go back, they would have to prioritise protection for Williams, and Taliese Fuaga went to the New Orleans Saints as a rookie and solidified the left side of their offensive line, something the Bears could have done with.

10) New York Jets

Original Pick: J.J. McCarthy (QB), Trade with Minnesota Vikings

New Pick: Brock Bowers (TE)

<strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/11/28/1205868-arrowhead-hosts-the-second-black-friday-football-game-in-exciting-afc-west-clash.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/11/28/1205868-arrowhead-hosts-the-second-black-friday-football-game-in-exciting-afc-west-clash.html'>Brock Bowers</a></strong> in action against the Miami Dolphins. Photo by Brandon Sloter/Getty Images

After trading down with the Minnesota Vikings, the New York Jets opted to bolster their offensive line by selecting Olu Fashanu, who did show some promising signs in his rookie season. However, when you have Brock Bowers available - as the Jets did in last year's draft - they would dash to the podium and hand in the card to select the former Georgia Bulldog. Bowers had a special rookie season as he recorded 1,194 receiving yards (most receiving yards in a single season by a rookie tight end) and five touchdowns on 112 receptions (most receptions in a single season by a rookie), the kind of player Aaron Rodgers certainly would have appreciated having at his disposal on offense.

11) Minnesota Vikings

Original Pick: Olu Fashanu (OT), Trade with New York Jets

New Pick: Quinyon Mitchell (CB)

After J.J. McCarthy was ruled out for the season having torn his meniscus during the preseason, Sam Darnold took his opportunity and shocked the NFL with a Pro Bowl-calibre season as the Vikings' starting quarterback. Had Minnesota known how good Darnold was going to be, they could have addressed their defense, which ended up ranking 28th in the league for passing yards allowed per game. Cornerback Quinyon Mitchell became an integral part of the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl-winning defense and was a contender for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, a player who would certainly have bolstered the Vikings' secondary.

12) Denver Broncos

Original Pick: Box Nix (QB)

New Pick: J.J. McCarthy (QB)

The Denver Broncos would not have believed their luck when Nix fell to them with the 12th pick. He has already been snapped up by the Giants in this redraft, and therefore they go with the National Championship-winning quarterback McCarthy out of Michigan. Despite missing his entire rookie season, the Vikings are bullish on McCarthy's potential to run their offense, and with Denver in need of a developmental quarterback following the departure of Russell Wilson, McCarthy fits the bill perfectly.

13) Las Vegas Raiders

Original Pick: Brock Bowers (TE)

New Pick: Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR)

<strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/11/04/1203000-nfl-rookie-rankings-week-nine.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/11/04/1203000-nfl-rookie-rankings-week-nine.html'>Marvin Harrison Jr.</a></strong> celebrates after victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Photo by Brooke Sutton/Getty Images

Bowers proved to be a very worthy pick from the Las Vegas Raiders as they centred their offense around him, but with the tight end already off the board in this redraft, the Raiders go with another elite offensive weapon in receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. He finished his rookie season with a solid stat line of 62 receptions for 885 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, and would have been a great offensive piece for the rebuilding Raiders to build around for years to come.

14) New Orleans Saints

Original Pick: Taliese Fuaga (OT)

New Pick: Brian Thomas Jr. (WR)

<strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/10/28/1202220-nfl-rookie-rankings-week-eight.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/10/28/1202220-nfl-rookie-rankings-week-eight.html'>Brian Thomas Jr.</a></strong> on the sideline head of a game against the Las Vegas Raiders. The New Orleans Saints had a host of needs heading into the 2024 NFL Draft and addressed their offensive line by selecting Fuaga. But, the opportunity to select an offensive weapon of the calibre of Brian Thomas Jr. is too tempting. Part of the LSU trio which also included Daniels and Nabers, Thomas had an exceptional rookie season as he recorded 1,282 receiving yards with 10 touchdowns, finishing third in the NFL in receiving yards behind only Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson.

15) Indianapolis Colts

Original Pick: Laiatu Latu (DE)

New Pick: Laiatu Latu (DE)

Laiatu Latu was a top prospect heading into the Draft, but saw his stock fall due to injury concerns. However, he put those injury concerns to bed in his rookie season as he played all 17 games and was solid for the Indianapolis Colts, recording four sacks as well as three forced fumbles. He still has plenty of developing to do, but his efforts did earn him PFWA All-Rookie Team honours, and the Colts will certainly not be regretting their selection.

16) Seattle Seahawks

Original Pick: Byron Murphy II (DT)

New Pick: JC Latham (OT)

While Byron Murphy II was a solid selection from the Seattle Seahawks, they had a big problem with their offensive line as the season wore on, which could have been addressed with the addition of JC Latham. Geno Smith was sacked 50 times (third-most in the NFL), and a large reason for that was the Seahawks' starting four different right tackles over the course of the season. Latham would have provided solidity at the position and would have allowed Smith more time in the pocket to operate.

17) Jacksonville Jaguars

Original Pick: Dallas Turner (LB)

New Pick: Ladd McConkey (WR)

<strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/11/25/1205575-nfl-rookie-rankings-week-12.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/11/25/1205575-nfl-rookie-rankings-week-12.html'>Ladd McConkey</a></strong> in action against the Las Vegas Raiders. The need for a wide receiver was evident for the Jacksonville Jaguars after the departure of Calvin Ridley in free agency, which they addressed by drafting Thomas. However, with him already off the board by pick 17, they opt to go for another receiver in Ladd McConkey out of Georgia. Despite falling into the second round, McConkey proved to be a valuable weapon for Justin Herbert and the Chargers as he amassed 1,149 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, a weapon which would have added much-needed depth to the Jaguars' receiver room.

18) Cincinnati Bengals

Original Pick: Amarius Mims (OT)

New Pick: Nate Wiggins (CB)

<strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/09/02/1194910-nfl-predictions-afc-editon.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/09/02/1194910-nfl-predictions-afc-editon.html'>Nate Wiggins</a></strong> ahead of a game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Amarius Mims was able to provide some much-needed solidity to the Bengals' offensive line, although it was Cincinnati Bengals' defense that let them down last season. They missed the playoffs entirely despite boasting one of the best offenses in the league, and the team is in desperate need of a young playmaker to bolster their secondary and lock down opposition receivers. With that being said, Nate Wiggins would have been a solid pickup for the Bengals as the former Clemson Tiger had a big impact on a stacked Baltimore Ravens defence, even managing a pick-six against the Cleveland Browns.

19) Los Angeles Rams

Original Pick: Jared Verse

New Pick: Braden Fiske

<strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/07/24/1189514-who-on-the-la-rams-d-line-could-fill-the-void-left-byfuture-hall-of-famer-aaron-donald.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/07/24/1189514-who-on-the-la-rams-d-line-could-fill-the-void-left-byfuture-hall-of-famer-aaron-donald.html'>Braden Fiske</a></strong> celebrates after victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty Images

The Los Angeles Rams are not able to retain their first-round pick Verse in this redraft, but they instead retain the services of their second-round pick Braden Fiske only as their first-round pick instead. Fiske proved to be a nightmare for opposition quarterbacks in his rookie season, leading the Rams with eight-and-a-half sacks as well as 32 pressures. The Rams are rapidly constructing one of the best young defenses in the NFL, and Fiske continues to be a vital piece of that in this redraft.

20) Pittsburgh Steelers

Original Pick: Troy Fautanu (OT)

New Pick: Rome Odunze (WR)

With Justin Fields and Wilson fighting it out for the starting quarterback spot on the Pittsburgh Steelers, both quarterbacks could have done with another offensive weapon to complement George Pickens, who often had to shoulder the entire offensive burden. Therefore, with Rome Odunze falling to pick 20, it would be a no-brainer for the Steelers to add another dynamic weapon to their offensive arsenal and give opposition secondaries much more to worry about.

21) Miami Dolphins

Original Pick: Chop Robinson (LB)

New Pick: Chop Robinson (LB)

The Miami Dolphins addressed a big need of theirs on the edge with the selection of Chop Robinson, and his high upside makes it very tough for the Dolphins to pass on him in this redraft. Robinson was needed by the Dolphins as Bradley Chubb missed the entire season and Jaelan Phillips only managed to play four games, and the rookie certainly stepped up as he recorded six sacks and eight tackles for losses. He is still a young player with plenty of developing to do, but he has shown signs that he can be a great young piece that the Miami Dolphins can build around.

22) Philadelphia Eagles

Original Pick: Quinyon Mitchell (CB)

New Pick: Cooper DeJean (CB)

With a stacked roster heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles opted to bolster their secondary with the selection of Mitchell. However, with Mitchell already off the board, the Eagles follow the Rams' lead and select their second-round pick with their first-round pick in the redraft and take Cooper DeJean. He was a seamless fit in Vic Fangio's defense as a slot corner, and capped his remarkable rookie season off with a pick-six in the Super Bowl to help the Eagles hoist the Lombardi Trophy, proving to be a player Philadelphia would be desperate to keep hold of.

23) Minnesota Vikings

Original Pick: Brian Thomas Jr. (WR), Trade with Jacksonville Jaguars

New Pick: Dallas Turner (LB)

Having addressed their secondary with their earlier pick in the redraft, Minnesota decides to stick with Dallas Turner with their second pick after a promising start to his NFL career. Turner racked up three sacks with 20 total tackles and three tackles for losses in his rookie season, and will only continue to learn and develop under one of the best defensive coordinators in the league, Brian Flores.

24) Dallas Cowboys

Original Pick: Terrion Arnold (CB), Trade with Detroit Lions

New Pick: Bucky Irving (RB)

<strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/10/21/1201227-nfl-rookie-rankings-week-seven.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/10/21/1201227-nfl-rookie-rankings-week-seven.html'>Bucky Irving</a></strong> in action against the Washington Commanders. Photo by Cliff Welch/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

In what was a very underwhelming season for the Dallas Cowboys, their biggest weakness proved to be their running game as they averaged just 81.7 rushing yards per game and just 3.8 yards per carry (ranking 31st in the NFL in both categories). With that being said, they opt to go with Bucky Irving who, despite being a fourth-round pick, proved to be a very effective part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offense, rushing for 1,122 yards and eight touchdowns. He would not have solved all of Dallas' issues last season, but would have been a very welcomed addition to their offense.

25) Green Bay Packers

Original Pick: Jordan Morgan (OT)

New Pick: Terrion Arnold (CB)

<strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/11/28/1205923-thanksgiving-football-the-chicago-bears-take-on-the-high-flying-detroit-lions.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en-us/nfl/2024/11/28/1205923-thanksgiving-football-the-chicago-bears-take-on-the-high-flying-detroit-lions.html'>Terrion Arnold</a></strong> watches on against the Minnesota Vikings. The Green Bay Packers love drafting offensive linemen with their earlier picks, and they followed that pattern in the 2024 NFL Draft when they selected Jordan Morgan. Unfortunately, Morgan was limited to playing in just six games last season due to a recurring shoulder injury, and with their standout cornerback Jaire Alexander playing just seven games due to a knee injury, another weapon in their secondary would have been a wise move for the Packers. Terrion Arnold had a solid rookie season with Green Bay's division-rival Detroit Lions under the guidance of defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, and he stays in the NFC North in this redraft, but in the green and yellow of the Packers instead.

26) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Original Pick: Graham Barton (C)

New Pick: Graham Barton (C)

Although Graham Barton struggled in his rookie season with pressures and penalties, the centre is highly thought of in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organisation and still has plenty of time to develop. He addressed a key need for the Buccaneers to bolster the interior of their offensive line, and they persevere in this redraft and stick with their original first-round pick.

27) Arizona Cardinals

Original Pick: Darius Robinson (DT)

New Pick: T'Vondre Sweat (DT)

The Arizona Cardinals selected Darius Robinson with their second first-round pick, but the former Missouri Tiger only managed to play six games in his rookie season due to a calf injury sustained in training camp. Having said that, the interior of the defensive line was a position of need for the Cardinals, therefore they instead opt to take T'Vondre Sweat who not only bolsters their run defense that ranked 25th in the NFL yards per carry, but also provides a long-term solution to veterans Khyiris Tonga and Roy Lopez, who are both due to leave in 2025 free agency.

28) Buffalo Bills

Original Pick: Keon Coleman

New Pick: Xavier Worthy

Keon Coleman was a solid pick by the Buffalo Bills, but not only do they add a speedster with the selection of Xavier Worthy, but they also prevent him from wearing the uniform of the Kansas City Chiefs.  The receiver posted a solid stat line of 638 receiving yards and nine total touchdowns in the regular season, but he came alive in the postseason where he averaged over 15 yards per carry and added another three touchdowns. He unfortunately could not help his team over the line in the Super Bowl, but put in a very commendable performance having notched 157 receiving yards which included a 50-yard touchdown reception, and would provide Josh Allen with a real deep threat.

29) Detriot Lions

Original Pick: Tyler Guyton (OT), Trade with Dallas Cowboys

New Pick: Mike Sainristil (CB)

Arnold proved to be a solid selection for the Detroit Lions, but with the former Alabama corner already off the board, the Lions go with another young ascending corner in Mike Sainristil. The former Michigan Wolverine was initially drafted by the Washington Commanders as a slot corner, however was quickly moved outside and held his own against some of the NFL's most physical receivers despite his smaller frame. He was a leader on their defence and even managed to grab four interceptions - including two against the Lions in the Divisional round of the playoffs.

30) Baltimore Ravens

Original Pick: Nate Wiggins (CB)

New Pick: Kamari Lassiter (CB)

Having missed out on their initial first-round pick, Wiggins, the Ravens still opt to bolster their secondary with the addition of Kamari Lassiter, who made a big impact on the Houston Texans' defense paired with Derek  Stingley Jr. His addition would allow the Ravens' first-team All-Pro corner, Marlon Humprey, to move back into the slot, and would still equip Baltimore to match up with the notable receivers in their division such as Chase, Tee Higgins and Pickens.

31) San Francisco 49ers

Original Pick: Ricky Pearsall (WR)

New Pick: Dominick Puni (OG)

The San Francisco 49ers snagged Dominick Puni in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but they do not let him fall that far in this redraft as they select him with their first-round pick instead. Puni had a standout rookie season, allowing zero quarterback hits, only three sacks and gave up just seven penalties. The 49ers struggled as a whole last season, however Puni is set to be a key piece of their offensive line for years to come as San Francisco looks to compete for Super Bowls once again in the very near future.

The number one priority for the Kansas City Chiefs should be to protect Patrick Mahomes, a priority which became very apparent in their Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. If they had taken Olu Fashanu, it would have given them a young left tackle they could have nurtured and developed into the long-term protector of their star quarterback, regardless of the injuries he dealt with in his rookie season with the New York Jets.
