On Wednesday, March 12, local country musician/songwriter, Rodney Watts, along with his daughters Trinity, 9, and Mackenzie, 8 performed in Gaitlinburg, Tennessee, competing in the North American Country Music Association International competition (NACMAI).
“It is the same competition as last year that they won,” said Rodney Watts. “It is in Gatlinburg. They will be judged by Nashville artists and industry people. This is our third year performing. The categories for the girls is New Country Entertainer of the Year for Mackenzie. For Trinity’s it is Entertainer of the Year in Traditional Country. I am competing for Entertainer of the Year in New Country.”
The song submitted for Song of the Year for Mackenzie is called “Let Me Be” written by her at six years old, for anti-bullying, along with her vying for Entertainer of the Year. Trinity’s song for Entertainer of the Year in Traditional Country is a song called “Momma,” that she wrote for her mom. Rodney will be performing the song he wrote called “Made for Me.”
While in Tennessee, the trio wil{span}l also perform a new song Watts wrote, together, about Indiana, called “Small Town Indiana” at the Hall of Fame show on Saturday, March 15 at the Country Tonite Theatre with famous country musicians Mark Willis, Billy Dean, Marty Raybon and William Lee Golden and The Goldens.
