Diddy has denied throwing shade at Burna Boy after he went home empty handed at the Grammys.

Burna’s 2022 album Love, Damini was nominated for Best Global Music Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 5), but ended up losing out to Japanese composer Masa Takumi’s Sakura.

With that being said, Burna snagged the same trophy in 2020 for his Twice As Tall LP, which was co-executive produced by Diddy and marked his highest-charting effort in the U.S. at the time.

Fans believed the Bad Boy boss took a swipe at the Nigerian hitmaker after a screenshot of an alleged Instagram Story from Diddy’s account containing some choice words circulated online.

“I helped you win your first and only Grammy award which I did out kindness, and somehow you thought you could win another without my help ?? Oh okay..,” read the post, which was apparently later deleted.

After TMZ and Onsite! caught wind of the alleged post and shared it on their respective platforms, Diddy pushed back against its validity.

“This is fake,” he wrote in a comment on the latter’s Instagram post.

Some fans weren’t convinced, however, and took to social media to accuse the mogul of lying about the post and backtracking on his sass.

“For the people saying the post was fake it’s real real,” wrote one person on Twitter. “Americans are accusing Diddy of lying that they all saw the post in real time before it got deleted. Make Odogwu too bring him shoulder down.”

Another added: “Why is Diddy lying tho?? I saw this shit with my two eyes on his story.”

While it’s unclear where the bad blood may have started between Burna Boy and Diddy, the former previously threw some awards-related shade of his own at Jack Harlow after the Kentucky rapper won big at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.

The dancehall star posted a TikTok video in September that showed a parade of people grooving to his track “Last Last,” along with a message that read: “When MTV says Jack Harlow has Song of the Summer…Wow so many heartbroken people [sad face emoji] #LastLast #Songofthesummer.”

Meanwhile, Diddy has been focusing on his own music recently. He closed out the year with a new song called “Sex In The Porsche” featuring PARTYNEXTDOOR, and also dropped off his Bryson Tiller-assisted radio hit “Gotta Move On” in May.

Both tracks serve as early previews of Puff’s forthcoming album, Off the Grid Vol. 1, which will be his fifth studio effort and first since 2006’s Press Play.

The project will also be his debut release under Love Records, the R&B label he launched last year in partnership with Motown Records.
