Demi Lovato Tapped To Sing The National Anthem At Super Bowl LIV

This article is more than 4 years old.

Demi Lovato will sing the National Anthem before the kickoff to Super Bowl LIV on February 2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Lovato will be accompanied by Christine Sun Kim, who will sing the anthem in American Sign Language on behalf of the National Association of the Deaf (NAD).

The joint announcement by the NFL and Fox was made public earlier today, about a week after news broke about Lovato’s upcoming performance at the Grammy Awards, set to air on January 26.

Lovato, who is recovering from a July 2018 drug overdose and hasn’t performed since, follows a long list of National Anthem singers that graced the Super Bowl stage. Last year, Gladys Knight took on the job. Previous performers include Luke Bryan, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Neil Diamond, Garth Brooks, Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Cher and Mariah Carey, among others.

Back in September, it was announced that Jennifer Lopez and Shakira landed the coveted half-time show gig. It will be the first time in history that two Latina artists will headline the Super Bowl show together.

The event will air live on Fox.
