Spirit week just got more exciting for Hun offensive lineman Caedan Wallace, as the Raiders prepare to host Lawrenceville under the lights Saturday night.

Wallace, a four-star Penn State commit who is ranked as the number two player in New Jersey by 247sports.com and number three by NJ.com, was selected Wednesday to play in the 2019 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, January 5.

Wallace joins Colonia DT Antonio Alfano, who is committed to Alabama, as the representatives from New Jersey in the game. He is Hun's fifth player to be selected to play in the game, joining Jeffrey Zuttah '03, Myron Rolle '06, Anthony LaLota '09, and Tyler Stockton '09.

"I want to thank the All-American selection committee, and I want to thank God, because without him I wouldn't be here," Wallace said. "I want to thank my parents, my teammates, my coaches, the students, teachers, and the administration at The Hun School for their love and support, academically and athletically.

"I am extremely excited to play in the All-American game and can't wait to represent New Jersey."

Hun head coach Todd Smith has watched Wallace grow in stature during his time at the school, both on and off the field, to become the

"Coaching Caedan has been a really rewarding journey," Smith said. "Because he did not come to us as a polished product. He has definitely gotten better each year he has been with us. It is great to see a kid, who has the potential, actually fulfill that potential. He has done that for us at a very high level for his hight school team. Hopefully he can continue that trajectory in college, and just keep improving and become a dominant offensive lineman at the Big Ten level.

"The amount of athleticism he possesses for a person his size is not common. He is one of the better athletes we have on the team, and he just happens to be our offensive tackle and weigh 300 pounds. That is the difference between elite and non-elite offensive linemen."

Wallace will join fellow 2017 Hun graduate Fred Hansard (who just had season-ending surgery after an injury in Penn State's 21-17 loss to Michigan State) on the Nittany Lions' roster.

"Having Fred as my teammate in the past will be a big help do me coming in, so i'm excited to learn," Wallace said.

For now, Wallace and the 4-1 Raiders are preparing to play their homecoming/senior night contest at 8 p.m. Saturday night, before a trip next Saturday to take on rival Peddie.

"This Saturday night under the lights is our homecoming and senior night, so I'm excited to ball out under the lights,' Wallace said."

The All-American Bowl is the most-watched high school sporting event on TV. The game, which will be broadcast live on NBC, averages roughly five million viewers, according to American Bowl representative Eniz Camdzic. More than 400 American bowl players have gone on to play in the NFL, including 380 draft picks, 52 Super Bowl champions, and 16 Heisman Trophy finalists. The players have also racked up 159 NCAA All-American selections and 134 NFL Pro Bowl selections.
