The University of New Hampshire heightened security on Sunday in preparation for the Super Bowl.
The school has had problems following past championship games, and officials said they hope history doesn't repeat itself.
UNH Police Chief Paul Dean said he wants to make sure everyone is having a good time being safe, and his department has a number of procedures in place should things get out of hand.
"Have a great time. We want people to enjoy themselves," Dean said. "It's a great day but you can't do damage and you can't commit crimes."
Officers are monitoring the UNH campus and downtown Durham.
The department has a number of cameras set up throughout the campus and downtown.
Electronic signs were put up on campus asking people to be respectful and telling them to park at their own risk.
College officials also sent a letter home to parents asking them to speak with their children about being smart while enjoying the Super Bowl.
"We're serious about people having a great time, but also serious about consequences, whether it be in the criminal justice system of the university's administrative policies," Dean said.
