If you’ve been waiting on Jay-Z to perform at the Super Bowl for years like I have, you’re going to have to keep on waiting.

The “Big Pimpin'” rapper was the top choice to perform at Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but the NFL will have to find another performer because “Hov” shot it down, according to The Source.

The hip-hop icon rejected the opportunity to perform during the halftime show at the 2018 Super Bowl, but so far there’s been no word as to why.

Of course, the leading theory is that the rapper, whose real name is Sean Carter, turned the show down for reasons related to Colin Kaepernick. Just last week Jay-Z showed support for the controversial quarterback during a show in New York City.

If that’s they case, it’s a damn shame. Now I have more reasons to dislike Kaepernick, who disrespected our flag and our troops by taking a knee for the national anthem during the entirety of last season.

Jay-Z’s wife, Beyoncé, has performed at the highly-anticipated Pepsi halftime show before, among other world famous artists like The Rolling Stones, The Who, Lady Gaga, Prince and others. The NFL didn’t exactly deny the rumors when asked about Jay-Z’s rejection, but they didn’t give us anyone else to hold out hope for either.

“No decisions have been made on the performer(s) and we are not going to speculate on particular artists,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told PFT by email. “Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names.”
